This week I traveled to Arizona with my husband. He frequently visits Tempe for work and we had been talking about me accompanying him on one of these trips. Everything worked out for me to join him this week. It was a good time as it afforded me the opportunity to lock myself in the hotel room for two days to get this new blog up and running!
We left on Sunday and after a rather long delay at LAX finally made it to Phoenix. After quickly picking up our luggage we got our rental car and were off to Casa Grande to have lunch with Brian’s cousins. Dawn and I had been planning to get together for several months on one of these trips so it was great to finally do it! We met them at a restaurant none of us had ever been to before. The Angry Crab. The food was good but the company and conversation were FAR better! Here is a picture of all of us together. Brian and I look a little worse for wear as we had been up since 3am Texas time?
After lunch Jay and Tessie graciously gave us a tour of their neighborhood and and their beautiful home. Since Brian and I are thinking Tempe may be where our next home is, it was great to see the community!
One of the things we have noticed about the Phoenix/Tempe area is that it is CLEAN! I’m sure there are areas that aren’t well kept but everywhere we traveled we remarked at how clean the city was! As much as we love San Antonio we have to admit, Arizona wins the prize when it comes to cleanliness!
On Wednesday evening we drove to Old Scottsdale for dinner at the Bario Queen. Brian had eaten there on one of his trips but this was my first time. The food was fabulous! Here are a few pictures from the evening.
We had a great time window shopping and exploring Old Scottsdale.
If you ever get the opportunity to travel to the Tempe/Scottsdale area, do it! There is a lot to do, the food is great and the people are wonderful!
